30 Days Wild 2020

Minimus is joining in on Twitter with this year's #30DaysWild - posting a wildlife picture for every day in June, with Latin captions. 

Of course, Minimus and Minima are locked down at the moment, so some of the photos were taken a while ago!

Day 1:    Minimus ranunculos in stagno invenit; mox in ranas vertent.

(Minimus finds tadpoles in the pond; soon they will turn into frogs)

Day 2: Minimus folia bellidis carpit. “me amat, me non amat”.

(Minimus picks daisy petals. “She loves me she loves me not”)

Day 3: amenta salicis pellicia sunt!

(The catkins of the willow are furry!)

So excited by today's unveiling of the little leather mouse from Vindolanda! One good thing to come out of lockdown, at least, even if everything else is pants (subligaria, as Minimus would say)

Interactive Garden Game

I've been trying
to work out how to redo the Garden Game, a little drag and drop preposition exercise I made, since it doesn't work properly on modern browsers. Here's a Google Slide version of it - you'll be directed to make a copy.

Virtual Vindolanda tablet

I've been trying for ages to make an interactive Vindolanda tablet, and this is the latest iteration! It's a Google slides file, and the link should let you make a copy and save it to your own Google Drive. Run the slideshow (f5) and you can drag the Roman cursive letters onto the virtual tablet to make your own message. There are three copies of each letter stacked up on the left, but you can easily copy and paste more.

The first of February is Hourly Comic Day. Minimus is up for the challenge...

Six o’clock on a freezing morning! 

Seven o'clock, and Minimus is frying his breakfast.

Eight o'clock, and Minimus is getting himself ready for school

Nine o'clock, and Minimus is singing in assembly

Ten o'clock, and Minimus is having a little trouble with his cursive writing...

Eleven o'clock, and Minimus is measuring cheese in his Maths lesson

Twelve o'clock is lunchtime for a hungry mouse!

One o'clock, and it's time for a little fresh air.

Two o'clock music lesson - Minimus does like his brass instruments!

Three o'clock, and Minimus is practising his boxing skills

Four o'clock - time for a dance before going home from school!

Five o'clock, and Minimus is playing with his friend the hedgehog

Six pm, and Minimus is attending to his toilet (as it were)

Twitter Challenges: 2, Hourly Comics Day

The first of February marks Hourly Comics Day, where artists, cartoonists and illustrators try to draw and post an image for each hour they are awake. I reworked my artwork from last year and made the Latin more legible. I'm very happy with how they turned out!

Twitter Challenges: part 1, Inktober

Inktober involves making an ink drawing each day throughout October. This time, the challenge offered a one-word prompt for each day, so I decided to translate the words into Latin and interpret them via Minimus, Vibrissa and Rufus. The drawings were photographed on my phone and not really cleaned up - but here they are anyway!
